Punjab Schools Reopen April 1: Five-Day Week Announced

Punjab schools reopen April 1, bringing students back after a temporary closure. The government confirmed that all institutions will follow a five-day week. This step aims to restore routine learning while easing earlier economic pressure.

Schools Resume with New Measures

Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, shared the update on Monday. He confirmed that authorities will not introduce a hybrid system. Instead, students will attend classes physically for better learning outcomes.
Moreover, officials are using CCTV cameras in 246 exam centers. This move will help ensure transparency during exams. In addition, the government has already distributed 70 percent of free textbooks across districts.
However, the minister admitted that online classes remain challenging for many students. Therefore, the focus will stay on in-person education. He also announced that students will get more time to prepare for exams starting next year.

Closure Background and Future Plans

Earlier, the government closed schools from March 10 to March 31. Officials took this step to manage rising fuel costs. The increase came due to the ongoing Middle East conflict, which affected petroleum prices.
sult, authorities explored several energy-saving options. For example, they considered longer school holidays and shorter market hours. These steps aimed to reduce fuel consumption across the province.
Now, with schools reopening, the government plans gradual improvements in the education system. Students and teachers can expect better scheduling and fair exam preparation time. Overall, these changes seek to create a more balanced and effective learning environment.
