Russia launched more than 700 drones and missiles at Ukraine. The attack came in multiple waves overnight. At least 18 people were killed. Local officials called it the deadliest attack in months.
The Deadliest Attack in Months
Nine people died in Odessa. That is a southern port city. Five were killed in Dnipro, a central city. Four died in the capital, Kyiv. A child was among those four.
Russian Casualties Too
Russia also reported casualties. Moscow said a Ukrainian drone attack killed two people in the southern Krasnodar region. One of them was a child.
This violence shattered a brief ceasefire. The truce took place over Orthodox Easter last weekend. Both sides had accused each other of hundreds of violations.
Night of Terror in Kyiv
Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. On Thursday, warning sirens jolted Kyiv awake at 02:30 local time. Explosions followed soon after.Eyewitnesses posted images online. They showed bright orange fires and huge plumes of black smoke. In one video, a drone slammed straight into the side of an apartment block. The city is now in mourning.
