Sindh Reduces Dengue and Malaria Test Rates to Ease Public Burden

In response to the growing number of dengue and malaria cases, the Sindh Healthcare Commission has announced a major Sindh test rate reduction for essential diagnostic tests. This decision aims to make testing more affordable and ensure timely treatment for patients. As a result, citizens can now get tested without worrying about high costs.

New Affordable Test Rates

The commission stated that the ICT malaria test will now cost Rs600, reduced from Rs3,050. Similarly, the Dengue NS test is priced at Rs1,100, down from Rs3,450. The Dengue Combo Test, which detects multiple viral markers, will now cost Rs1,500 instead of Rs4,150. In addition, the Complete Blood Count (CBC) test used for dengue follow-ups will be available for Rs500, compared to the earlier Rs1,250. These revised prices will remain valid from October 21 to December 31.
The Sindh Healthcare Commission has partnered with nine major hospitals and laboratories in Karachi to make these discounted tests accessible to more people. This initiative supports early diagnosis and treatment during the ongoing rise in dengue and malaria cases. The commission also urged hospitals to comply with the new pricing structure to benefit the public effectively.

Citizens Welcome Relief

Residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely relief for struggling families. However, many stressed the need for strict enforcement to prevent hospitals from overcharging. They also called on authorities to intensify anti-dengue and anti-malaria spray campaigns to curb the spread of infections. Therefore, the government’s combined efforts toward affordable healthcare and preventive action may play a vital role in controlling these diseases
