Sony may be preparing a major return to handheld gaming with a PlayStation 6 portable designed to work like a Nintendo Switch. According to YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead, which has accurately leaked PlayStation details before, Sony is developing a dockable portable system alongside a traditional PS6 home console. The handheld will reportedly feature an AMD APU with four Zen 6c cores, two additional system cores, and a 16 x RDNA 5 CUs GPU running at 1.2GHz handheld and 1.65GHz docked. Docked, the device could even exceed the base PS5’s performance. Moore’s Law suggests a price around $500, with release expected in late 2027. Sony hasn’t released a native gaming handheld since the PS Vita in 2011, though it launched the streaming-only PlayStation Portal in 2023. Sony confirmed it is “committed to exploring a new and enhanced way for players to engage with our content and services.”
