Tatkon High School Hosts 10th Teacher Respect-Paying Ceremony

Tatkon teacher ceremony brought together former students and respected educators in a heartfelt gathering. No 1 Basic Education High School, Tatkon, held its 10th Teacher Respect-paying Ceremony yesterday at Aung San Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. The event celebrated teachers who dedicated their lives to education and community service.

Honoring Veteran Educators

A total of 189 former students attended the ceremony. They paid homage to teachers aged 60 to 80 who once guided them through their school years. This warm reunion created an emotional atmosphere. In addition, alumni leaders delivered appreciation speeches to thank their mentors for their lifelong contributions.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin also joined the event. They offered opening remarks that highlighted the value of teachers in building a strong society.

Gifts and Recognition

During the ceremony, officials presented MRTV DTH receivers, accessories, and special gifts to teachers aged 75 and above. Students also received exercise books and stationery. These gestures added meaning to the celebration. Later, teachers shared their reflections, and Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn donated 30 MRTV DTH receiver sets to former students as a token of encouragement.

School Legacy

Tatkon BEHS No 1 has a long and proud history. It opened as a primary school in 1946 and expanded into a middle school in 1952. By November 1957, it had grown into a full high school. Over the decades, many talented students graduated and excelled in national exams. Today, 72 teachers guide 1,924 students. The respect-paying ceremony takes place every three years to honor the school’s continued tradition of gratitude and unity.
