Three-Day Physical Remand Approved for Hospital CEO
A court has approved a three-day physical remand for private hospital CEO Shaukat Ali Bangash. The FIA sought his custody while investigating alleged violations of human organ transplantation laws.
FIA Seeks 14-Day Remand
Judicial Magistrate Adnan Rashid announced the order after hearing arguments from both sides. The Federal Investigation Agency asked the court for 14 days of physical remand. The FIA accused Bangash of violating provisions linked to human organ transplantation. Investigators also alleged that commercial interests played a role in the transplantation process.
According to the agency, an agent transferred Rs13.3 million into the private hospital’s account. Therefore, investigators want to examine the transaction and identify its purpose. The FIA also wants to determine Bangash’s role in the alleged activity. In addition, investigators plan to examine the involvement of other people connected with the case. The agency told the court that more custody would help investigators collect financial records and other evidence. It also wants to establish whether the payment formed part of an illegal arrangement.
Court Grants Three-Day Custody
Bangash’s lawyer strongly opposed the FIA’s remand request. The lawyer asked the court to discharge his client from the case.He argued that the allegations lacked enough strength to justify further custody. However, the court reached a different conclusion after reviewing the arguments. The magistrate found the allegation against Bangash prima facie correct. The court also said investigators needed more time to examine the matter.
However, Magistrate Rashid limited the physical remand to three days. He then handed Bangash over to the FIA for further investigation. The agency will now examine the alleged financial transactions and transplantation activities. As a result, investigators may seek further action based on their findings.
Authorities have not yet established Bangash’s guilt. The investigation will determine whether he or others violated the law.The case remains under investigation, and further developments could bring additional legal proceedings. The court will consider new evidence during future hearings.
