TikTok Tests New AI Content Controls for Safer User Experience
TikTok is rolling out new tools to help people manage TikTok AI content in their feeds. The feature will appear within the “Manage Topics” section in the coming weeks. It allows users to adjust how often AI-generated posts show up on their For You page. As a result, people can explore more of the content they enjoy.
The control works like existing topic settings. These include categories such as Sports, Dance, and Food & Drinks. Users who want more AI history content can increase its frequency. However, those who prefer less can reduce it without removing it completely.
Invisible Watermarking for Better Labeling
TikTok is also adding invisible watermarking to improve its AI labels. The platform already requires creators to label realistic AI-generated videos. In addition, TikTok uses several detection methods, such as creator tools, internal models, and C2PA Content Credentials. These systems have helped label more than 1.3 billion videos.
However, labels often disappear when content is reuploaded or edited. The new invisible watermarks solve this issue. TikTok adds them to videos made with tools like AI Editor Pro and to content uploaded with C2PA data. As a result, the platform can track modifications more accurately.
AI Literacy Fund and Global Partnerships
TikTok is also investing in education. The company launched a $2 million AI literacy fund to support expert-created learning content. Groups like GirlsWhoCode now receive support to produce helpful videos on AI safety. The fund includes over 20 experts across many countries, and more will join soon.
TikTok also works with the Partnership on AI. The company contributes to research on AI and human connection. In addition, it has supported responsible synthetic media practices since 2023. TikTok continues improving its tools, including Smart Split and AI Outline, while using AI to support trust and safety teams.
