TimeSplitters Returns: Fans Drop Massive Free Remake on PC

TimeSplitters Returns: Fans Drop Massive Free Remake on PC

The legendary TimeSplitters franchise has officially made a triumphant return through a massive, fan-made project called TimeSplitters Rewind. For gamers who grew up playing the iconic first-person shooter trilogy on PlayStation 2, Xbox, or Nintendo GameCube, this release is a massive win. Modern revival attempts by major publishers failed over the years, but passionate community developers finally brought the series back to life.

The game is available as a free download on PC, upgrading the retro classics for modern hardware. It delivers an incredible wave of pure early-2000s nostalgia, updating outdated control schemes and visual performance to meet the rigorous standards of modern desktop gaming environments.

A Massive Greatest Hits Collection

This unique project does not separate the trilogy into three different files. Instead, it unifies the entire series into a single executable file. The developers built the game from the ground up with updated graphics, better controls, and a ton of content. Over a 10-year development cycle, nearly 200 hobbyists and AAA industry veterans contributed to the project.

The current early access version includes 28 multiplayer maps, 32 challenges, 96 distinct characters, and 41 weapons. These comprehensive design choices ensure that veteran players can experience all their favorite maps, multiplayer modes, and challenge leagues in a single, well-optimized software client without switching apps.

Free to Play with Low System Specs

Gamers can enjoy online or offline story modes, classic arcade settings, and customizable bot matches. Best of all, IP holders Crytek and THQ Nordic gave the project their official blessing, provided it remains entirely non-profit. To install the game, players need 35 GB of available storage space.

The system requirements are incredibly low, asking for just 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 760 graphics card. This means almost any PC built in the last decade can run the game smoothly. This widespread accessibility allows the aging community to easily reunite online, fill active server lobbies, and introduce younger generations to a classic shooter era completely free of microtransactions.
