A new chapter in Iran–Pakistan relations opened on Tuesday as Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam announced the launch of a direct passenger flight between Tehran and Islamabad. The initiative, finalized after Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezhakian’s recent visit to Pakistan, represents a landmark step in bilateral cooperation in air transportation. According to Ambassador Moghadam, the agreement was made possible through persistent collaboration and follow-up from officials on both sides. Operated by Iran AirTour, the service will directly link the capitals of Iran and Pakistan, cutting travel time and providing new opportunities for cultural and economic exchange. The envoy emphasized that this new route is designed not only to ease connectivity but also to encourage greater tourism flows, strengthen people-to-people ties, and expand business relations between the two neighbors. He expressed deep appreciation to the government of Pakistan for its role in facilitating the arrangement and ensuring its smooth implementation. “This achievement belongs to the people of both countries as well as their business communities, tourism sectors, and private enterprises,” Moghadam noted, congratulating all stakeholders on the successful outcome. Highlighting Pakistan’s scenic beauty, rich heritage, and renowned hospitality, the ambassador voiced optimism that the direct link would significantly increase the number of Iranian visitors eager to explore cultural sites and natural attractions. He added that such exchanges would help foster mutual understanding and bring the two nations closer together. The Tehran–Islamabad direct flight is expected to act as a catalyst for stronger ties, supporting tourism growth and reinforcing economic, cultural, and diplomatic connections between Iran and Pakistan.
