Uber Joins WTTC Executive Committee to Shape Travel’s Future

Uber has joined the Executive Committee of the World Travel & Tourism Council. This marks the company’s return to WTTC after a five-year gap. Uber previously served as a Global Member between 2018 and 2021. The move reinforces Uber’s commitment to the global travel sector. It signals a strengthened role in shaping industry policies.

Uber’s Global Reach and Travel Integration

Founded in 2010, Uber operates in over 15,000 cities across 70 countries. The platform connects millions with drivers, couriers, and local businesses. Uber plays a key role in how people move globally. The company enhances the traveler journey significantly. It provides mobility solutions from airport transfers to in-destination transport.
Uber helps connect visitors with local communities and experiences. The company continues investing in innovation and sustainability. Electrification and multimodal transport options are key priorities. Uber now offers the world’s most widely-available Electric Vehicle platform. These developments align with WTTC’s sustainability goals.

Strategic Partnerships and Leadership Vision

Earlier this year, Uber announced a partnership with Expedia Group. This gives Uber users access to over 700,000 hotels worldwide. Users can book these accommodations directly in the Uber app. Uber One members earn 10% back on hotel bookings. The partnership is expected to expand beyond the United States.
WTTC President & CEO Gloria Guevara welcomed Uber’s return. She emphasized Uber’s vital role in the travel ecosystem. Their membership strengthens WTTC’s global representation significantly.
