Unsafe Medicines Alert: DRAP Warns Against Counterfeit Drugs
Pakistan’s Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has issued an unsafe medicines alert for the public. Officials warn that several commonly used drugs are counterfeit. These medicines may harm health and should be avoided.
Authorities found six medicines circulating in Punjab that failed laboratory tests. As a result, regulators declared them fake or substandard. Officials also confirmed that some batches were produced outside licensed facilities.
Dangerous Batches Identified
DRAP says certain batch numbers pose serious health risks. For example, a glaucoma eye drop called Glantrim is under scrutiny. Batch LZ010K may damage vision and should not be used.
In addition, authorities flagged medicines related to pregnancy and women’s health. These products were found to be forged. Therefore, experts urge patients to stay cautious and verify all medicines before use.
More Fake Drugs Discovered
Officials also identified problems in an antifungal drug. Batch HH003L of TerbidermForte Tablet was declared spurious. As a result, patients may not receive proper treatment for infections.
Moreover, a hormone therapy injection has been labeled fake. This raises concerns about ineffective treatment and possible side effects. Authorities stress that these risks can impact anyone.
What the Public Should Do
DRAP has ordered immediate removal of these medicines from the market. Inspectors are seizing stocks from pharmacies and distributors. In addition, authorities urge people to check batch numbers carefully.
Consumers should always buy medicines from licensed sellers. However, if something seems suspicious, report it to officials. Taking these steps can protect your health and prevent harm.
