Left-arm fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari has officially retired from all formats of international cricket, drawing the curtain on his career with Pakistan. The 30-year-old pacer made the announcement through a heartfelt message to fans, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country at the highest level.
Shinwari burst onto the international scene in 2013, making his T20 debut against Sri Lanka. Known for his sharp pace and ability to generate swing, he quickly established himself as a promising prospect in Pakistan’s bowling arsenal. Over the years, he featured in both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals, taking memorable wickets and delivering impactful spells when called upon.
Injuries, however, hampered his progress and restricted his consistency at the international level. Despite flashes of brilliance, Shinwari struggled to secure a permanent place in Pakistan’s playing XI, often competing with a deep pool of talented fast bowlers. His last appearance in national colors came a few years ago, after which he shifted his focus to domestic cricket and various franchise leagues.
Announcing his retirement, Shinwari thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), his teammates, coaches, and supporters for their encouragement throughout his journey. He also hinted at continuing his career in league cricket around the world, suggesting fans will still see him in action, albeit outside the international arena.
With Shinwari stepping away, Pakistan bids farewell to another member of its fast-bowling fraternity, as the country continues to nurture fresh talent for the future.
