XREAL Introduces Real-Time 3D Viewing
XREAL has launched a new feature for its flagship AR glasses.
The update uses on-device depth inference to convert 2D content into 3D instantly. This rollout follows an earlier release on the 1S model.
However, the latest update now reaches the One and One Pro devices. The company says users do not need special files or apps. Instead, the glasses process everything directly on the device.
How the Technology Works
The system runs on the X1 spatial computing chipset.
As a result, conversion happens in real time without external software. The built-in neural processor estimates depth for every frame. It then creates separate views for each eye with natural spacing. Because the feature avoids proprietary formats, it supports many devices. For example, users can watch movies, stream shows, or play games. XREAL reports slightly higher power use during this mode. However, consumption remains low at roughly 300 milliwatts. Importantly, the company built the entire system in-house.
It designed a compact model optimized for performance and efficiency.
What This Means for XREAL’s Future
The Beijing-based company focuses on everyday media experiences. Its glasses support games, films, and TV through a custom Android system. Recently, XREAL secured $100 million in new funding. In addition, it became Google’s lead AR hardware partner. As a result, future devices will support Android XR. That transition starts later this year with Project Aura.
