Punjab Education Reforms with Google Bring Free Courses and Scholarships
Punjab has launched major changes under the Punjab education reforms Google initiative. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced these steps during a meeting in Lahore. The plan focuses on skills, scholarships, and better facilities.
The government aims to improve learning opportunities for students across the province. As a result, thousands of learners will gain access to modern education tools. In addition, officials are working to upgrade institutions.
Free Courses and IT Upgrades
Punjab will offer free certification courses with support from Google. More than 100,000 students will benefit from this program. These courses cover cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence.
Normally, these certifications cost between $400 and $1,000. However, students will now access them at no cost. Therefore, many learners can build valuable digital skills.
The government will also set up IT labs in 166 colleges. These labs will support practical learning and innovation. In addition, a new performance system will track teachers and institutions.
Officials will introduce key performance indicators for better accountability. This step will help improve teaching quality. As a result, institutions can focus on measurable progress.
Scholarships and Student Support
The Honhaar Scholarship Program will now support 62,949 students at once. Authorities will release funds in phases to ensure smooth distribution. Moreover, officials will include all eligible candidates.
Punjab will also expand academic programs in commerce colleges. Around 36 colleges will link with 19 public universities. These colleges will offer 14 BS programs in business, IT, and e-commerce.
The government has approved electric buses for students as well. In addition, the laptop scheme will include special and minority students. This ensures equal access to digital tools.
Overall, these reforms aim to modernize education in Punjab. They also create better opportunities for students across all backgrounds.
