Pakistan Reviews Medical Education Standards in High-Level Meeting

Medical education Pakistan standards came under review in a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday. Officials discussed ways to improve quality and transparency in medical, dental, and alternative medicine education.
Moreover, the meeting focused on strengthening regulatory systems. Participants reviewed existing frameworks and identified gaps in accreditation. As a result, authorities emphasized the need for better quality control across institutions.

Focus on Quality and Accreditation

Senator Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of aligning medical education in Pakistan systems with international best practices. He called for stronger accreditation processes to ensure consistent standards. In addition, he urged institutions to improve transparency in their operations.
Officials agreed that reforms must focus on long-term improvement. Therefore, they discussed measures to standardize education across medical and allied health fields. The goal is to ensure that graduates meet global healthcare requirements.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the need for coordination among relevant departments. Participants agreed that effective regulation will improve trust in the healthcare education system. As a result, future professionals will benefit from more reliable training structures.

Government Plans Continued Review

The meeting included key officials such as the Minister for Climate Change, the Minister for National Health Regulations, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, and senior secretaries. They contributed suggestions for improving oversight and governance.
In addition, officials decided to continue discussions in the next session. They will review recommendations from the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. Therefore, reforms in medical education in Pakistan will move forward in a structured and collaborative way.
