HEC Introduces Blockchain-Based Digital Degree Attestation System
HEC digital attestation is set for a major upgrade as the Higher Education Commission moves toward a blockchain-based system. This new platform will allow students to verify degrees online. As a result, applicants will no longer need to visit offices or submit physical documents.
Moreover, officials said the system will simplify the entire attestation process. Students will apply online and track their applications in real time. Therefore, the process will become faster, more transparent, and more convenient.
Blockchain System to Modernize Verification
The Higher Education Commission has partnered with CMPak and Wibbow Technologies to develop the platform. This collaboration aims to build a secure blockchain system for credential verification.
In addition, the platform will reduce delays that students currently face. It will also remove the need for repeated office visits. As a result, graduates inside Pakistan and abroad will benefit from easier access to services.
The HEC digital attestation system will initially connect 25 universities. It will also link with the Foreign Office’s Attestation Directorate. Therefore, the system will improve coordination between key institutions.
Government Pushes for Faster Services
Earlier, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances asked HEC to speed up attestation. Members raised concerns about delays and financial pressure on students.
In response, HEC leadership said it is working on a secure digital transformation plan. The chairman explained that blockchain technology will improve efficiency and reduce fraud risks. In addition, he confirmed that the system will go live by June 30, 2026.
Officials also emphasized that the new model will replace paper-based procedures. Therefore, students will experience a simpler and more reliable process. As a result, HEC digital attestation marks a major step toward modernizing higher education services in Pakistan.
