SPSC Files FIR Over Social Media Campaign Against CCE 2023

The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) has registered an FIR against a vlogger, two social media users, and up to 40 unidentified individuals. Officials accused them of spreading alleged defamatory content and inciting protests against the commission. The SPSC FIR case also includes allegations of provoking people to stage a sit-in outside the commission’s office. Therefore, police have launched an investigation under several legal provisions, including cybercrime and anti-terror laws.

FIR Registered Over Social Media Posts

According to officials, the FIR was lodged at the Government Officers Residence Police Station on the complaint of Assistant Secretary SPSC Muhammad Mustafa Jafri. The complainant alleged that vlogger Imtiaz Chandio uploaded a Facebook video questioning the transparency of the Combined Competitive

Exams (CCE) 2023 results.

Officials claimed the video created doubts about the fairness of the examination process. In addition, the complainant stated that two social media users, Fayaz Hussain Shar and Rafifullah Qureshi, shared the content on their Facebook pages.
According to the FIR, the online campaign allegedly encouraged people to organize protest sit-ins outside the SPSC head office and on nearby roads.

Protest and Legal Charges Included in FIR

The complainant said around 30 to 40 unidentified individuals staged a sit-in outside the SPSC office on May 8. Officials alleged that protesters held staff members inside the building for nearly 90 minutes.
Police registered the case under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, the Anti-Terrorism Act, and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. Authorities also included charges related to criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly, provocation, and electronic crimes.
Officials said investigations are ongoing, and police may identify more individuals linked to the case.
