Pakistan to Launch 20,000 AI Training Programs Under NAIAI
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) plans to launch 20,000 AI training programs under the National AI Advancement Initiative (NAIAI). The government aims to prepare the workforce for the fast-growing digital economy through advanced online learning. Officials said the initiative will help improve skills, boost innovation, and expand AI adoption across different sectors. Therefore, the program focuses on preparing young professionals and workers for future technology demands.
AI Courses to Target Multiple Sectors
The six-to-12-month AI training programs will target fresh graduates, teachers, freelancers, government officials, and professionals from different industries. Officials said participants will study through an advanced learning management system (LMS). In addition, trainees will receive certifications in machine learning, deep learning, and AI ethics.
The ministry explained that the initiative supports AI adoption in healthcare, agriculture, education, and industry. As a result, authorities hope the program will strengthen Pakistan’s role in the global technology market.
MoITT has invited training and capacity-building companies to design the LMS and develop courses that match local and international market needs. Experts believe the initiative could improve employment opportunities for Pakistani youth and technology professionals.
Experts Stress Importance of AI Skills
Software and AI expert Asim Tausif Khan said artificial intelligence offers Pakistan a major opportunity to expand its share in the global IT industry. However, he stressed the need to quickly train young people and professionals to meet rising demand in local and Gulf markets.
According to the National AI Policy 2025, Pakistan aims to train one million people in AI-related skills by 2030. The policy also targets 10,000 AI trainers, 20,000 yearly internships, and 3,000 advanced research scholarships annually.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Amin warned that AI could replace many freelance jobs if workers fail to upgrade their skills. However, he added that freelancers who learn modern technologies can benefit from new opportunities in the evolving digital economy.
