Meta is rolling out a range of Meta World Cup Features across its apps to help fans follow and celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2026. The updates include live score alerts, fan chats, stickers, AI-powered tools, and special football-themed experiences.
The new features will be available across Threads, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. As a result, users can stay connected with the tournament no matter which Meta platform they prefer.

New World Cup Experiences Across Meta Apps

Threads is receiving several football-focused updates. Users can join live chats, receive score alerts, and participate in a dedicated World Cup community. In addition, Meta plans to host live commentary sessions featuring football legends. The platform will also showcase match highlights, trending discussions, and game reminders. Fans can further personalize their profiles with team-themed stickers and custom emojis. Instagram is introducing a dedicated World Cup search hub. When users search for tournament-related content, they will see a curated feed of Reels, Stories, official broadcaster content, and fan posts. Furthermore, Instagram is adding AI-powered voice effects inside direct messages. This gives fans another creative way to share their excitement during matches.

Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp Join the Action

Facebook users can access a new Football Mode by double-tapping the Facebook logo at the top of their feed. The feature offers football-themed content and interactive experiences throughout the tournament. Meta is also allowing users to generate AI images featuring themselves wearing their favorite team’s jersey. Additionally, themed stickers and custom backgrounds will be available across the platform.
Messenger is getting a Live Updates feature for group chats. Once activated, users can receive match events such as goals, red cards, and major moments directly within conversations. Therefore, friends can react together in real time without leaving the chat.
WhatsApp is also joining the celebration with themed stickers, calling effects, and a dedicated channel directory for World Cup-related content.
The FIFA World Cup remains one of the biggest global sporting events. With these new Meta World Cup Features, the company aims to boost fan engagement while creating fresh opportunities for brands and marketers to connect with football audiences worldwide.
