Then, Moin Shakeel scored in the final moments. However, India held firm and secured all three points. The defeat marked Pakistan’s 13th straight loss in the nine-team tournament. Furthermore, India extended their unbeaten run against Pakistan in competitive matches since 2016.
FIH Issues Official Apology
The match also featured an off-field controversy. Before the game, organizers displayed an incorrect version of Pakistan’s national flag. The white section was missing from the design shown on the field. Following the incident, the International Hockey Federation issued an apology. It accepted responsibility for the mistake and expressed regret. In addition, officials promised to review procedures and prevent similar errors in future events.
