VALORANT Agent 29 Veto Arrives October 7 With New Abilities

Riot Games has officially unveiled VALORANT’s 29th agent, Veto, during the VALORANT Champions Paris Grand Final. Originating from Senegal, this Sentinel-class agent is built around the concept of disruption and control. Veto’s unique abilities allow players to dismantle enemy strategies by destroying their utilities, locking them down, and even resisting debuffs entirely. The agent’s inclusion represents Riot’s ongoing push to expand tactical depth and defensive diversity within the game. Veto will make its official debut on October 7, 2025.

Veto’s Abilities Revealed

Veto’s skill set combines utility denial with precise zone control:

  • Crosscut (C): Deploys a teleport vortex on the ground. Players can reclaim and redeploy it during the buy phase, offering unmatched repositioning flexibility.
  • Interceptor (E): Places a device that destroys incoming enemy utility like grenades or flashes. It can be destroyed, but its presence alone alters how attackers use their abilities.
  • Chokehold (Q): Throws a trap that activates upon contact with enemies, deafening, decaying, and trapping them briefly.
  • Evolution (X – Ultimate): Temporarily enhances combat ability with a stim, regeneration, and immunity to all debuffs, giving players a powerful window to clutch rounds.

Potential Impact on VALORANT’s Meta

While it’s too early to predict how Veto will affect the meta, early impressions suggest that the agent could thrive in defensive setups, particularly on maps requiring site lockdowns.
However, some of Veto’s abilities, especially Interceptor, may struggle against aggressive teams that rely on speed and coordinated pushes. Still, Evolution could redefine clutch potential for Sentinels, rewarding smart timing and game sense.
With Veto’s addition, VALORANT now boasts 28 agents, fueling speculation about whether Riot might introduce agent bans or rotations in competitive play. Regardless of balance outcomes, Veto’s arrival proves Riot’s ongoing commitment to innovation and evolving strategic play.
