Russia Launches Scholarship Program in Karachi to Promote Language and Culture
KARACHI, Oct 5 (APP): The Russian Centre for Science and Culture, also known as the Russian House, has launched a new Russian Government Scholarship program in Karachi. The initiative is in partnership with the Ural State Pedagogical University (USPU).
A special media briefing took place at the Russian House. A delegation from USPU, led by Dr. Roman Porozov and Anton Dolgov, shared details about the program.
Free Courses in Russian Language and Culture
The Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ural State Pedagogical University, the Foundation for the Support of the Humanities “My Story,” and the Russian House in Karachi jointly announced free courses. These classes focus on Russian language, history, and culture.
Registration is now open, and lessons will continue until the end of October. Teachers from USPU’s Centre for Open Education, including Dr. Porozov and Dolgov, are conducting the sessions.
Speaking at the briefing, Dr. Porozov shared insights about USPU’s academic programs. He also expressed his appreciation for teaching in Pakistan. “This is not our first visit — and we hope it won’t be the last,” he said.
He recalled earlier collaborations in 2024 when USPU taught Russian at Karachi universities and organized cultural workshops.
Students and Selection Process
Another delegate, Prokhorov, praised Pakistani students for their dedication. “They are very focused and know exactly why they are learning Russian,” he said.
He added that the Russian House in Karachi is the only authorized body handling scholarship selections. “We have no other branches or partner organizations in Pakistan,” he clarified.
This initiative aims to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Pakistan and Russia.
