Aleema Khan Rejects PIMS Report on Imran Khan’s Health, Demands Independent Examination
The Imran Health Report has triggered fresh controversy after Aleema Khan rejected the medical findings issued by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan questioned the hospital’s assessment and called for an independent medical examination. She also urged authorities to ensure that his legal and family visitation rights are fully implemented.
Aleema Questions PIMS Findings
Aleema Khan said her family does not accept the medical reports issued by PIMS regarding Imran Khan’s condition. According to her, the institution had previously made claims about improvements in his eyesight that Imran later disputed during a meeting with his lawyer.
Her statement came a day after PIMS announced that Imran had undergone his fifth scheduled intravitreal injection. Hospital officials said doctors performed the procedure under standard medical protocols and obtained informed consent before treatment.
Aleema also raised concerns about reports that Imran was taken to PIMS in the early hours of June 15. She said the family learned about the hospital visit through a social media post by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. Furthermore, she questioned why Imran required a fifth eye injection and demanded greater transparency regarding his medical care.
Family Seeks Independent Medical Treatment
Aleema called for Imran to receive treatment from independent specialists at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. She described independent medical evaluation as an urgent priority and stressed the need for family involvement in medical decisions.
In addition, she claimed that authorities had not fully implemented court orders allowing family visits. According to Aleema, a court order permits six family members to meet Imran every Tuesday. However, she alleged that officials had largely failed to comply with these directions over the past several months.
She also emphasized that prison regulations entitle Imran to regular family meetings, access to legal counsel, telephone contact with his sons, and routine medical care. Therefore, she demanded the immediate restoration of all legal rights and unrestricted access to professional medical treatment.
The latest dispute has once again placed attention on Imran Khan’s health, medical treatment, and conditions of detention at Adiala Jail.
