Dark Visual Novel Decollate Decoration Launches April 17 on Consoles
Developer KANEKODO and publisher KEMCO bring Decollate Decoration to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch on April 17. Decollate Decoration features pixel-style visual novel adventure with point-and-click gameplay. You play as a girl who awakens as a ghost after living an honest life without wrongdoing. The fear of being separated from your loved one overwhelms everything else in your afterlife. Therefore, you resolve to stay close to him at any cost before your soul passes on. The branching narrative offers six different endings for you to discover. Each playthrough of the main story lasts around 15 minutes. Prologue and epilogue side stories expand the narrative beyond the main campaign. The game first launched on PC via Steam earlier this year.
Gameplay and Features
You must influence your beloved through conversations, poltergeist activity, dream visits, and even curses. However, direct communication proves nearly impossible because he lacks spiritual awareness. Consequently, careful experimentation and strategic choices become essential for making progress. A save function, ending list, and unlockable bonus illustrations encourage multiple playthroughs.
The game explores themes of devotion, loss, and desperate choices made in the afterlife. Torn between love and obsession, you struggle against fate throughout this emotional journey. The pixel-art aesthetic creates a dark, atmospheric tone for the entire narrative. Therefore, you will need six endings to fully understand the story.
Story and Themes
The protagonist believes she lived without evil, so her soul should receive kind judgment. Yet the thought of being separated from the one she loves terrifies her more than the abyss itself. If she can no longer stay by his side, then she must bring him with her. Appearing in dreams, stirring strange phenomena, or invoking darker powers become options for achieving her goal.
Gameplay revolves around selecting commands to interact with the world and with “Him.” Progress is achieved through trial and error, leading to different outcomes based on your choices. The full experience takes about one to two hours to uncover all endings. Additionally, Xbox Play Anywhere is supported for the console versions.
