Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Gameplay Reveals New Combat Features
Bandai Namco and developer Dimps have released the first seven-minute gameplay showcase for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, giving fans their best look yet at the upcoming action RPG. The new footage highlights fast-paced combat, squad-based missions, powerful transformations, and brand-new gameplay mechanics that expand the Xenoverse formula. Scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 promises deeper customization and more strategic battles than ever before.
Expands Combat Mechanics
The latest gameplay introduces players to the unexplored AGE 1000 timeline, where they step into the role of a rookie member of the Great Saiya Squad. Throughout each mission, players join squads of up to four fighters and battle waves of enemies before facing powerful bosses. As the missions progress, players strengthen their connections with iconic Dragon Ball heroes, which directly influence character growth, combat abilities, and customization options.
Consequently, teamwork and character relationships play a much larger role than in previous entries. Combat also revolves around the Ki system. Players drain enemy Ki through combos, charged attacks, and special Ki Drain abilities before triggering Ki Break status. Once opponents become vulnerable, players can unleash the devastating Break Smash attack to deal massive damage and quickly turn the battle in their favor.
New Transformations and Soul Assist Features
In addition to improved combat, the ame introduces several new mechanics that add more variety to every fight. The Soul Assist system allows players to summon legendary Dragon Ball characters once the Assist Gauge fills completely, letting them unleash signature attacks during battle. Meanwhile, the Soul Switch feature temporarily channels a chosen hero’s soul, changing the player’s appearance while dramatically boosting combat power.
Furthermore, players can unlock race-specific Awakened transformations, including Super Saiyan, with Bandai Namco confirming that additional races and transformations will arrive later. Each Battle Style also changes combo chains and special techniques, allowing players to fight like legendary warriors such as Goku and Vegeta while creating their own unique playstyle.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 continues building on the series’ signature mix of RPG progression, character customization, and action-packed combat.
