Experts to Study Effects of Social Media Restrictions on Teen Health
Researchers are taking a closer look at how social media restrictions may affect young people’s health. Some evidence links social media use to mental and physical changes in adolescents. However, experts say there’s still no clear proof that social media directly causes these effects.
In addition, researchers believe it’s vital to hear from young people and their families. They want to understand how new rules impact their daily lives and wellbeing. As a result, this feedback could help shape future debates about whether social media harms or helps youth.
How the Study Will Work
Participants will take part in a short survey before and after the new social media age limits begin. This will help track any noticeable changes in behavior or mood.
Alongside the survey, there’s also an optional two-week mobile phone study. Using a secure research-based app, the project will collect anonymous data on how much time participants spend on social platforms.
Researchers hope the findings will guide policymakers and parents. Therefore, this study could play a key role in shaping healthier online habits for young users.
