FBR Auctions Bahria Town Land to Recover Rs26.47 Billion Tax Default
The FBR Bahria Town auction has ended with the successful sale of a 527-kanal and 10-marla land parcel in Murree District. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) auctioned the property to recover outstanding tax liabilities linked to Bahria Town. As a result, the authority has moved closer to recovering tax dues worth Rs26.47 billion. The latest auction followed legal procedures under Pakistan’s tax laws.
The property is located in Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road in Tehsil Murree, District Rawalpindi. FBR conducted the auction under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and the Income Tax Rules, 2002.
New bidder secures the property
A new Pakistani businessman submitted the highest bid during the latest auction. However, officials have not disclosed the bidder’s identity. Sources confirmed that the successful bidder differs from the one selected during the previous auction.
Earlier, businessman Musawar Abbasi had emerged as the highest bidder. However, that transaction did not reach completion. Therefore, FBR cancelled the earlier process and advertised the property for auction again.
The auction notice stated that FBR reserved the right to accept or reject any bid without assigning a reason. Officials followed the prescribed legal process before finalising the latest auction.
FBR continues tax recovery efforts
FBR launched the auction to recover unpaid taxes amounting to Rs26.47 billion. The authority continues to use legal measures to collect outstanding revenue from tax defaulters. Property auctions remain one of the available enforcement tools under existing tax laws.
Sources said the successful bidder will pay around Rs825 million, including applicable taxes, to complete the purchase. The amount covers the property’s value as well as all required taxes under the auction terms.
The sale marks another important step in FBR’s ongoing tax recovery campaign. In addition, it highlights the authority’s commitment to enforcing tax laws and improving revenue collection. Officials expect the transaction to strengthen tax compliance and encourage timely payment of dues by other taxpayers across the country.
