Saudi Ambassador Pakistan: Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy Named New Envoy
Saudi Arabia has appointed Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy as the new Saudi Ambassador Pakistan, replacing Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki. The appointment comes as both countries strengthen cooperation in defence, investment and regional security. Moreover, the move reflects the deep and longstanding partnership between Riyadh and Islamabad.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the appointment this week. According to the ministry, Albugamy was among eight newly appointed ambassadors who took the oath of office. The ceremony took place on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and before Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Experienced diplomat to lead mission
The ministry also released photographs of the newly appointed envoys, including Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy. He will now head Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic mission in Pakistan. Therefore, he takes charge at an important time for relations between the two countries.
Before entering diplomacy, Albugamy served as a major general in the Saudi armed forces. Later, he joined the Saudi Foreign Ministry with the rank of ambassador. In addition, he earned a doctorate in Human Resource Management from Brunel University London. His military and academic background brings valuable experience to his new role.
Saudi Arabia expects the new envoy to strengthen diplomatic engagement with Pakistan. At the same time, both governments continue to work closely on regional and global issues.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expand cooperation
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have shared close ties for decades. They regularly cooperate in defence, trade, investment and security. As a result, their strategic partnership has continued to grow.
Less than a year ago, both countries signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement. Under the agreement, an attack on one country will be treated as an attack on the other. The pact formally strengthened years of military cooperation.
Meanwhile, both governments continue to explore new investment opportunities and economic partnerships. They also coordinate efforts to promote regional peace and stability. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia remains one of Pakistan’s key economic partners through financial support, energy cooperation and development projects.
With Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy now serving in Islamabad, both nations are expected to deepen cooperation further. His appointment marks another step in strengthening the enduring friendship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
