God of War Laufey Launches on February 16, 2027 for PS5
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio have officially confirmed that God of War Laufey will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the next chapter in the iconic action series shifts the spotlight from Kratos to his wife, Laufey, also known as Faye. The new adventure explores her journey after death while setting the stage for the future of the God of War franchise.
God of War Laufey Follows Faye’s Journey
The game tells an entirely new story centred on Faye after her death. Instead of finding peace, she awakens in a mysterious realm known as The Everywhen, where powerful gods from different mythologies battle for control. Meanwhile, the plans she created to protect Kratos and Atreus begin to unravel. As a result, Faye embarks on a dangerous mission through the afterlife to save her family before events spiral beyond her control. The story introduces players to a fresh perspective while expanding the God of War universe beyond Kratos’ legendary journey.
Fast-Paced Combat Takes Centre Stage
Unlike Kratos’ heavy-hitting combat style, Faye relies on speed, precision, and relentless attacks to defeat enemies. Players will master agile combat techniques while facing powerful gods, magical creatures, and dangerous threats throughout The Everywhen. During the God of War Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog confirmed that another Kratos-led God of War game will follow Laufey’s adventure. More importantly, Barlog revealed that the future title will connect directly to the events of God of War Laufey, making Faye’s story an essential part of the franchise’s next major saga. With a brand-new protagonist, expanded mythology, and a confirmed continuation of Kratos’ journey, God of War Laufey marks the beginning of an exciting new era for one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises.
