Sponge Break Launches July 30 with Chaotic Co-op Rafting Adventure

Publisher Balor Games and developer Goose Byte have confirmed that Sponge Break will launch for PC via Steam on July 30 for $7.99. The upcoming cooperative rafting adventure supports one to four players and blends physics-based gameplay with puzzle-solving, survival, and plenty of chaotic moments. Whether playing solo or with friends, players must work together to survive dangerous rivers while escaping the tyranny of the kitchen sink.

Sponge Break Delivers Chaotic Co-op Gameplay

In Sponge Break, players take control of brave sponges escaping on a fragile raft held together by little more than hope. Up to four players can join together through seamless drop-in cooperative gameplay, while solo players can tackle the adventure alone. Furthermore, the game features proximity voice chat, allowing teammates to communicate naturally as they navigate rapids, solve puzzles, and avoid deadly hazards. The sponge characters even lip-sync to players’ voices, adding even more humour to every adventure.

Physics-Based Rafting Creates Constant Challenges

Sponge Break places a strong focus on realistic physics, meaning every mistake carries serious consequences. Players must carefully steer the raft through dangerous rivers because one wrong move can flip the entire raft, scatter supplies, damage the team, and quickly end the journey. In addition, players can use a versatile plunger that doubles as a grappling hook to grab objects, recover equipment, and overcome obstacles. As players progress, they will also explore multiple environments, including sewers, rivers, and abandoned facilities filled with environmental dangers, fires, puzzles, and even hostile beavers.

Unlock Cosmetics and Explore New Biomes

Beyond survival, Sponge Break offers more than 100 unlockable cosmetic items that let players customise their sponge’s appearance. Players can personalise eyes, eyebrows, hats, mouths, inflatable buoys, plungers, and emotes while creating their own unique sponge. Between levels, teams can relax at safehouses to repair their raft, revive teammates, restock supplies, and prepare for the next challenge. With hilarious co-op gameplay, physics-driven rafting, colourful customisation, and unpredictable obstacles, Sponge Break looks set to become one of this summer’s most entertaining multiplayer indie games.
