In the Katcha region of Gambat, Khairpur, Sindh, the River Indus spilt, engulfing multiple settlements and obstructing road access. As floodwaters surged, locals were evacuated by boat and mule. Increased flood warnings were issued as inflows at Guddu Barrage topped 333,000 cusecs, a dramatic 21,321 cusec rise in a single day, which officials attributed to upstream releases from India.
Rescue crews are on standby to help stranded families, according to authorities. To give displaced inhabitants food and shelter, relief operations are being organized. The situation is still dire because more water level increase is anticipated in the days ahead.
