Ishaq Dar Condemns Israeli Actions in Occupied East Jerusalem
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar strongly condemned Israeli actions in Occupied East Jerusalem during a ministerial meeting in Amman, Jordan. He said repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli forces, violate international law. He warned that these actions hurt religious sentiments and increase tensions across the region. Dar also urged the international community to protect holy sites and prevent further escalation.
Pakistan Rejects Israeli Claims Over Jerusalem
Dar said Israel has no sovereignty over Occupied East Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites. Therefore, Pakistan rejects every attempt to change the city’s legal, religious, or historical status. He stressed that such measures remain illegal and carry no legal effect under international law.
Moreover, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites. Dar recognized the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department as the only legal authority responsible for managing Al-Aqsa Mosque. He added that the entire 144-dunum compound remains an exclusive Muslim place of worship. Any attempt to divide or alter its status, he said, must be rejected.
Dar Calls for Peace and Protection of Palestinians
Dar also expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian situation across the occupied Palestinian territory. He criticized illegal settlements, rising settler violence, and the continued displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank. In addition, he said these policies undermine the chances of achieving a just and lasting peace.
Speaking about Gaza, Dar said millions still face severe humanitarian challenges despite the ceasefire. However, he welcomed progress under the Gaza Peace Plan and appreciated mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye. He urged all parties to implement every commitment under the plan.
Finally, Dar called on Arab and Islamic countries to work together with unity and determination. He demanded an immediate end to violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, accountability for crimes against civilians, and full respect for international law. He said lasting peace depends on justice, dialogue, and the protection of Palestinian rights.
