Karachi Teachers Boycott Disrupts University Exams, Students Face Delays

Karachi teachers boycott has disrupted exams at Karachi University. Many students could not take their papers. They returned home in intense heat and humidity. However, some departments continued exams without major issues.

Mixed Exam Situation

Several science and arts departments held exams on schedule. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Pharmacy fully observed the boycott. As a result, many students missed important exams. The university plans to continue exams throughout May. However, this disruption may delay the process. In addition, summer vacations will start in June. Therefore, teachers may not be available to complete assessments. Students now face confusion about new exam dates. For example, many worry about academic progress and results. The ongoing situation continues to create stress for everyone involved.

Teachers Raise Financial Issues

The Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) supports the boycott. It calls the decision logical and necessary. According to KUTS, unpaid dues have caused serious financial strain. These dues include leave encashment and evening programme payments. In addition, teachers await payments for supervision and paper checking. Therefore, frustration has increased over time.
KUTS also highlighted a deficit of Rs1.6 billion. It asked the administration for transparency. However, previous talks and written requests did not solve the issue. As a result, teachers chose to protest. This action has directly affected students. Many now demand a quick solution. Both sides need to resolve the issue soon to restore normal academic activities.
