Karachi Water Tanker Barcode System Launched to Curb Illegal Operations

Karachi Water Tanker Barcode System Launched to Curb Illegal Operations

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has introduced the Karachi water tanker barcode system to improve transparency and stop illegal tanker operations. Every registered water tanker now carries a unique barcode. Residents can scan the code before receiving water. The system allows them to verify important tanker information within seconds. This digital step aims to strengthen trust and improve the city’s water supply services.

Barcode System Enhances Public Verification

The new barcode system gives residents easy access to tanker information. People can scan the code using a mobile phone. They can check the driver’s identity, approved route, vehicle fitness certificate, and water source.
As a result, citizens can quickly confirm whether a tanker is registered. They no longer need to rely only on verbal information. This process also helps reduce fraud and improves accountability.
In addition, the city administration expects the system to improve monitoring. Officials can identify registered vehicles more efficiently. Therefore, they can take faster action against suspicious tanker operations. Mayor Murtaza Wahab encouraged residents to scan the barcode before accepting every delivery. He said public cooperation remains essential for the success of the initiative.

Authorities Target Illegal Tanker Operations

The mayor also urged citizens to report any tanker without a registered barcode. Authorities will investigate complaints and take legal action when necessary. This approach will help remove illegal operators from the system. Furthermore, officials believe the digital verification process will weaken the illegal water tanker mafia. It will also strengthen regulation across Karachi’s water supply network. Better monitoring can improve service quality for thousands of families.
The city government plans to expand technology-based solutions for public services. Modern systems can increase transparency and improve public confidence. The Karachi water tanker barcode initiative reflects that commitment. If residents actively use the barcode feature and report suspicious vehicles, authorities can build a safer, fairer, and more reliable water distribution system across Karachi.
