Lahore Kite String Incident Injures Young Rider

A dangerous Lahore Kite String incident injured a young motorcyclist near Muslim Town Bridge in Lahore. The victim, identified as Abubakar, suffered neck injuries after a stray kite string suddenly wrapped around his neck while he rode his motorcycle. Moreover, the incident created panic in the area and raised fresh concerns about illegal kite flying in the city. Rescue teams shifted the injured rider to Mayo Hospital, where doctors later confirmed that his condition remained stable and out of danger. Witnesses said the sharp string appeared suddenly while the motorcyclist passed through the busy road. Authorities also warned that such incidents continue to threaten public safety, especially for motorcyclists and pedestrians traveling across Lahore.

Police Order Immediate Action

DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran took immediate notice of the incident after receiving official reports from the area. He issued a show-cause notice to the SHO Garden Town over alleged negligence in controlling kite flying activities. Furthermore, the DIG instructed all station house officers across Lahore to intensify anti-kite flying operations in their respective areas.
The DIG also directed SP Model Town to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter. Authorities will take strict action against officers found responsible for weak enforcement or negligence. Therefore, police teams have increased monitoring in several neighbourhoods to prevent similar incidents during the coming weeks.
Officials also ordered police personnel to remove dangerous kite strings hanging from rooftops, trees, and electricity poles. In addition, authorities urged residents to report kite flying activities that could put lives at risk.

Crackdown Continues Across Lahore

According to Lahore Police, authorities have arrested 4,185 suspects during anti-kite flying operations this year. Police teams have also recovered more than 114,000 kites and over 44,000 spools during ongoing crackdowns across the city. As a result, officials believe stricter enforcement will help reduce dangerous incidents involving sharp kite strings.
Police officials stressed that illegal kite flying remains a serious safety issue despite repeated crackdowns. They also urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and avoid activities that endanger public lives in Lahore.
