The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) intensified its ongoing operation against illegal constructions and unauthorized commercial use, sealing another 74 properties across the city on Tuesday. Acting on the directions of Director General LDA, Tahir Farooq, the Town Planning Wing carried out enforcement actions in multiple areas including Sabzazar, Kot Lakhpat, Johar Town, Gulberg, New Garden Town, Gulshan Ravi, Shadman, and Shah Jamal. During the operation, five unlawful structures were demolished in Sabzazar and Kot Lakhpat, while dozens of properties faced sealing orders due to violations of construction and land-use regulations. In Johar Town alone, 24 properties were sealed during a recovery drive. Meanwhile, 21 properties in Gulberg and New Garden Town were targeted over illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercial fees. Another 29 properties in Gulshan Ravi, Shadman, and Shah Jamal were sealed in connection with similar violations, reflecting LDA’s resolve to curb unlawful urban development.
The latest crackdown underscores LDA’s commitment to ensuring regulated urban planning and lawful commercial activity within its jurisdiction. The sealed properties included a wide range of establishments such as private schools, clinics, workshops, food outlets, shops, and offices that were operating without proper approvals or in violation of zoning regulations. Officials stated that such actions are essential to discourage unauthorized construction and protect public interest by maintaining proper land use standards. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner I, Asad Uz Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, who emphasized that indiscriminate enforcement would continue across all LDA-controlled areas. With this large-scale sealing drive, the authority has sent a strong warning to violators engaged in illegal commercial activities, reinforcing its stance on sustainable urban development. Citizens and businesses have been urged to comply with building bylaws and fee regulations to avoid strict penalties.
