Makhdoompur Girls School Needs Urgent Repairs as Safety Concerns Rise

Makhdoompur Girls School has educated generations of female students since its establishment in 1948. The historic institution remains one of the oldest schools in Khanewal district. However, its aging infrastructure now threatens both student safety and the quality of education. Cracked walls, damaged classrooms, and leaking roofs have created serious concerns for parents, teachers, and local residents. Therefore, the community is urging the Punjab government to begin immediate renovation work and improve learning conditions.

Aging Building Creates Learning Challenges

The school provides education from secondary to higher secondary level. Hundreds of girls attend classes there every day. However, many classrooms need urgent repairs because years of neglect have weakened the building. Teachers also struggle to conduct lessons in unsafe and poorly maintained rooms.
Parents worry that the damaged structure could lead to an accident at any time. As a result, they continue to demand immediate action from the authorities. Mirza Yameen, whose daughter studies at the school, said several sections of the building have remained in poor condition for years. He urged officials to complete renovation work before the situation becomes more dangerous.
Education Department officials have inspected the school on several occasions. During a visit in May 2026, they highlighted poor classroom lighting and other missing facilities. They instructed staff to improve the conditions quickly. However, large-scale repair work has not yet started.

Community Demands Immediate Government Action

Community leaders have also raised their voices over the school’s condition. Local social and political figure Javed Ansari said damaged classrooms, broken boundary walls, and outdated facilities require urgent attention. He stressed that every student deserves a safe, modern, and supportive learning environment.
In addition, the school does not have a proper sports ground. Students have limited opportunities to take part in outdoor games and physical activities. Educators believe sports help improve health, teamwork, and confidence. Therefore, residents want the renovation plan to include a playground and better recreational facilities. The community hopes the Punjab government will preserve this historic institution through timely repairs. Investing in Makhdoompur Girls School will protect students, strengthen education, and provide a safer future for generations to come.
