Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Reveals Phoenix Cyclops as First DLC Fighter

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Reveals Phoenix Cyclops as First DLC Fighter

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has officially revealed its first downloadable character during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that Phoenix Cyclops will join the roster in Fall 2026, giving fans another powerful Marvel fighter to master after launch. Alongside the DLC reveal, the developers showcased the game’s opening movie, shared new story details, and announced additional crossover content ahead of the game’s August 6 release on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Phoenix Cyclops Joins Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Phoenix Cyclops becomes the first post-launch fighter for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. This version of Cyclops comes from the famous Phoenix Five storyline, where Iron Man splits the Phoenix Force and one fragment merges with Scott Summers. As a result, Cyclops gains devastating Phoenix abilities alongside his signature Optic Blasts. Players can combine powerful ranged attacks, aggressive close-range pressure, and cosmic Phoenix flames to overwhelm opponents. The DLC launches in Fall 2026, giving players even more reasons to return after the game’s release.

New Story and Opening Movie Revealed

During the San Diego Comic-Con panel, Arc System Works also revealed the game’s anime-inspired opening movie, animated by Sanzigen Studio. Meanwhile, the official theme song, Stronger As One, is now available on music streaming platforms. The developers also confirmed that the Champion of the Universe serves as the game’s main antagonist. In the story mode, players lead one of five captains and build four-character teams to defeat the powerful cosmic warrior. Furthermore, the game will include crossover costumes, including Wolverine’s Battle Reborn suit from Insomniac Games’ upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine.

Open Beta Arrives Before Launch

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Before release, players can participate in an open beta running from July 24 to July 26. The beta features 16 playable characters, ranked and casual matches, local versus mode, training mode, online lobbies, tutorials, and the opening chapters of the story campaign. Unlike traditional tag fighters, Marvel Tokon uses a shared team health bar while allowing players to unlock additional teammates during battle. Although some regions still cannot access the game because of PlayStation Network restrictions, Arc System Works has confirmed several gameplay improvements based on feedback from previous beta tests. With Phoenix Cyclops leading the first DLC lineup and new content already planned, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls continues building excitement ahead of launch.
