Meta has introduced Hyperscape, a major step in virtual reality. The new technology turns real spaces into lifelike VR environments. Meta revealed it at Connect 2025. Hyperscape Capture is now in early access for Quest 3 and Quest 3S users aged 18 and up.
To create a VR space, you walk through your room holding the headset. The scan usually takes just a few minutes, depending on size. After the scan, Meta’s servers process the data in the cloud. They render a detailed digital twin over several hours.
The result is striking. Your VR copy shows walls, furniture, windows, reflections, and even natural lighting. Meta has previewed scans of Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen, the UFC Octagon, Happy Kelli’s Croc room, and Chance the Rapper’s “House of Kicks.”
At first, these VR spaces remain private. Only the creator can enter. Meta plans to add private sharing links later. Scanning is quick, but rendering still takes time. The rollout will happen region by region.
Hyperscape is more than a cool demo.
It shows Meta’s vision to connect physical and virtual worlds. Possible uses include virtual tours, real estate showcases, creative storytelling, professional training, or simply preserving personal spaces in VR.
Still, challenges exist.
Privacy concerns, scanning cluttered rooms, and managing varied lighting could affect realism. Social features also remain uncertain. Yet for Quest owners, Hyperscape delivers a glimpse of VR that feels personal, immersive, and tied to the real world.
