Mullvad VPN Android Gets Smarter Multi-Hop

Mullvad VPN Android Gets Smarter Multi-Hop

Mullvad VPN Android users can now test a smarter multi-hop feature in beta. The update adds automatic routing and several interface improvements. The new “when needed” option can activate multi-hop without manual setup. For example, it can switch on when DAITA needs a compatible server. The beta arrived on August 20 through release android/2026.9-beta1. However, Mullvad has not announced when the changes will reach everyone.

New Privacy Tools and Interactive Globe

Multi-hop sends connections through two separate servers instead of one. Therefore, the setup can make online activity harder to trace. The first server sees the user’s IP address but not the final destination. Meanwhile, the second server sees the destination but cannot see the original IP. Mullvad has also separated entry and exit server filters. This change gives users more control over how their connections travel.

The Update Also Improves The Server Globe Inside The App.

Users can now pan, zoom, and spin the globe using touch gestures. Furthermore, location search now offers smarter results. The system supports fuzzy matches and highlights search terms while users type.

These changes should make server selection easier for people who value privacy. They also reduce some of the manual work involved with advanced routing. The company continues to develop privacy-focused tools across its apps. However, users should remember that this release remains a beta test.

Mullvad has not confirmed a public release date yet. Therefore, Android users may need to wait before accessing the redesigned features
