PM Shehbaz Holds Saudi Crown Prince Meeting in Makkah
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif began the Shehbaz Saudi meeting with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah on Friday. The Saudi crown prince welcomed the Pakistani premier on his arrival. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), both leaders immediately started bilateral talks. The meeting aims to strengthen cooperation and discuss regional developments.
Prime Minister Shehbaz is leading a high-level delegation during his three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
PM Performs Umrah Before Official Talks
Before the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz and the delegation performed Umrah in Makkah. They also received the honour of visiting the Holy Kaaba. Afterwards, they offered prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity, the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, and lasting regional and global peace.
Earlier, the prime minister arrived in Jeddah. Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz welcomed him at the airport. Saudi Minister Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli, Pakistan’s Ambassador Ahmad Farooq, and senior officials also received the delegation. Their warm welcome reflected the close friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to the PMO, the visit follows an invitation from the Saudi crown prince. It combines religious significance with high-level diplomatic engagement. As a result, both countries continue to strengthen their long-standing partnership.
Leaders Discuss Bilateral and Regional Cooperation
Prime Minister Shehbaz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are expected to discuss stronger economic, political, and strategic cooperation. In addition, they will exchange views on regional and international developments. The discussions aim to expand collaboration in several areas of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit carries importance beyond immediate regional challenges. It expects the talks to deepen bilateral relations and improve coordination on shared priorities. Furthermore, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan remains committed to regional diplomacy. Therefore, the visit supports de-escalation efforts and promotes a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to conflicts in the Middle East.
