PM Shehbaz Says Hamas Response to Trump’s Gaza Plan Could Open Door to Ceasefire

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed Hamas’s response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza plan. He believes the reaction could create a rare opportunity for a lasting ceasefire in the region.
Speaking at a press briefing in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said both sides must prioritize peace and stability. He urged international leaders to seize this moment and encourage dialogue. If this window closes, the suffering of innocent people will only continue,he warned.
The Hamas response signals a possible shift in tone amid months of violence. According to officials, the group has expressed cautious openness to mediated talks. This, Shehbaz said, is a hopeful sign that should not be ignored.
However, he also emphasized that peace can only succeed through fairness and mutual respect. The rights of Palestinians must be protected,he added. Any plan for Gaza must ensure dignity, safety, and self-determination.
In addition, Pakistan reaffirmed its long-standing support for a two-state solution. The Prime Minister called on the United Nations and major powers to play an active role. Therefore, global cooperation remains essential to end hostilities and start rebuilding efforts in Gaza.
Observers say this could be a turning point if both sides stay committed to talks. As a result, the world may witness the first real step toward a ceasefire after years of conflict.
PM Shehbaz concluded that Pakistan will continue to advocate for peace and humanitarian relief in Gaza. We must turn this moment into a movement for lasting peace, he stated firmly.
