PM Youth Programme, OIC-COMSTECH Join Hands to Boost Digital Skills
The PM Youth Programme and OIC-COMSTECH have agreed to expand youth digital skills, entrepreneurship and empowerment. Both sides will also create a joint committee to coordinate programmes for young people across OIC member states.
New initiatives to support young people
The agreement came during a meeting in Islamabad between PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and OIC-COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary. Senior officials from both organizations also attended the meeting.
Both sides agreed to support the prime minister’s vision for youth development. They also want to promote Pakistan’s work in science, technology, education and skills.
The meeting explored several joint initiatives. These include the Kazan Youth Forum and a new Digital Youth Programme.
The digital initiative will focus on training 500 young women in digital skills. In addition, both sides will examine expanding the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub to other OIC countries.
The partners also discussed stronger links between Pakistani youth programmes and organisations across OIC states. As a result, young people could gain more opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange.
OIC partnership to expand opportunities
Rana Mashhood praised COMSTECH’s work in science, technology, innovation and capacity building. He said closer cooperation could help showcase Pakistan’s positive contribution through knowledge and youth development.
He added that Pakistan could connect young people across OIC countries. The country could also help them access opportunities in emerging technologies and digital skills.
Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary highlighted the large youth population across OIC member states. He said this population could support economic and technological growth.
However, he stressed the need for greater investment in education, digital skills, science and entrepreneurship. Stronger cooperation could also connect young professionals, innovators and businesses.
The proposed joint committee will identify priority areas for cooperation. It will also develop a system to implement the initiatives discussed during the meeting.
The partnership could therefore create wider opportunities for young people. It may also strengthen collaboration among youth, institutions and entrepreneurs across the Muslim world.
