Punjab Boards Increase Matric Registration Fees for 2026–28 Session

Punjab education boards have increased the matric registration fee Punjab for Classes 9 and 10 students. The revised structure will apply for the 2026–28 academic session. Officials say financial constraints forced the decision.
All nine boards across Punjab have started the registration process. Students can submit forms with the normal fee until June 8. Therefore, early applicants can avoid extra charges.
The total registration cost now stands at Rs. 2,350. It includes a registration fee of Rs. 1,150, a processing fee of Rs. 870, and a sports fee of Rs. 300. As a result, students will pay more than in previous years.

Late Fees and Additional Charges Increase

Students who miss the deadline can still apply. However, they must pay a late fee of Rs. 600 between June 9 and June 23. This step encourages timely registration.
Boards have also revised charges for other services. For example, students can correct personal data until October 31 for Rs. 750. After that date, the fee rises to Rs. 1,250.
In addition, students can change subjects until October 31 for Rs. 2,400. After the deadline, the cost increases to Rs. 2,900. Therefore, timely updates can help avoid higher expenses.
The migration fee has also been set at Rs. 4,800. Officials say this ensures proper processing of student transfers between institutions.

Parents Raise Concerns Over Rising Costs

Students must submit a B-Form along with their father’s national identity card during registration. This requirement remains unchanged.
Teachers and parents have expressed concern over the fee increase. They believe rising costs may burden low-income families. However, boards maintain that the adjustments are necessary to manage operational expenses.
As a result, many families now plan to complete registrations early to avoid additional charges. The new fee structure will remain in effect for the upcoming academic cycle.
