Punjab Education Crisis Worsens as Millions Remain Out of School

The Punjab Education Crisis continues to grow as millions of children remain out of school despite ongoing enrolment campaigns. Education experts have raised concerns about poor infrastructure, teacher shortages and limited access to quality learning. They warned that weak facilities and rising population pressures are affecting students across Punjab. In addition, many rural and low-income communities still struggle to access basic education services.
Officials have launched several enrollment drives to bring children back to classrooms. However, experts say the efforts have not produced the expected results. Many schools still lack clean drinking water, electricity, furniture and proper classrooms. As a result, parents often hesitate to send their children to school.

Experts Highlight Infrastructure and Access Problems

Education specialists believe poor planning and low funding continue to damage the province’s education system. They stressed that many schools face overcrowding and severe teacher shortages. Furthermore, several areas still lack nearby schools, especially for girls.
Experts also warned that inflation and poverty are forcing many children into labour instead of education. Consequently, thousands of students leave school early to support their families. Analysts say this trend could harm Punjab’s long-term economic growth and literacy rate.
Meanwhile, teachers and activists have urged authorities to improve school facilities and provide equal learning opportunities. They also called for better teacher training and increased investment in public education.

Calls Grow for Urgent Education Reforms

Education advocates say Punjab needs long-term reforms to solve the crisis. They believe authorities must focus on modern classrooms, digital learning and stronger community support. In addition, experts stressed the importance of safe and inclusive schools for all children.
Officials have promised to continue enrolment campaigns and education reforms across the province. However, experts argue that stronger implementation and monitoring remain essential. The Punjab Education Crisis will likely continue unless authorities address infrastructure problems and improve access to quality education.
