Punjab Expands Cryoablation Program With Five New Machines
Punjab is expanding its cryoablation program with five new machines for major hospitals across the province. The move aims to bring modern care closer to patients across the province.
The Punjab government purchased the equipment on the Chief Minister’s directions. Officials have sent the machines to hospitals for installation.
Two machines will go to the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer in Lahore. Nishtar Hospital, Allied Hospital, and Benazir Bhutto Hospital will receive one unit each.

Cryoablation uses extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissue. Doctors can use this technique for tumors and certain early-stage cases. It can offer a less invasive option for suitable patients.

Punjab introduced its first cryoablation machine at Mayo Hospital in 2025. Since then, more than 70 patients with Stage 1 cancer have received treatment there.
