Punjab Makes Quarterly DPC Meetings Mandatory for Teacher Promotions
Punjab DPC meetings will now take place four times a year to speed up teacher promotions across the province. The Punjab School Education Department has made the schedule mandatory for all districts. The move aims to make promotions faster, fairer and more transparent.
New promotion schedule
The department has issued formal directions to all district chief executive officers (CEOs). They must ensure timely processing of promotion cases for teachers and other employees.Districts must hold Departmental Promotion Committee meetings in January, April, July and October each year. Therefore, officials must complete all four scheduled meetings for 2026 by October.The department has also set a clear timeline for each meeting. DPCs will meet during the first week of every scheduled month.
Next, officials will tag eligible employees on the School Information System (SIS) portal. They must complete this task during the third week of each scheduled month.The department will then open the promotion actualization round during the fourth week. This process will help districts handle eligible cases without unnecessary delays.
Strict action over delays
The School Education Department has warned officers about disciplinary action. Officials who fail to hold meetings on schedule may face strict action.In addition, the department will open the SIS portal four times each year. This step will give eligible employees regular opportunities to enter the promotion process.The department will also monitor the performance of district officials. It will assess CEOs and district education officers (DEOs) based on how quickly they dispose of promotion cases.
As a result, district officials will face greater responsibility for completing cases on time.
