Punjab School Reforms: Two Headmasters Approved for Every Government School

The Punjab government has approved a major decision under Punjab school reforms to improve education in government schools. Every school will soon have two headmasters instead of one. The School Education Department also approved teacher rationalization from August. In addition, the government will outsource another 5,550 primary, middle, and high schools. Officials expect these measures to improve learning, strengthen management, and raise academic standards.

Two Headmasters to Improve School Performance

The Education Department will complete the appointments before the summer vacations end. Each school will have one regular headmaster and one OPS (Own Pay Scale) headmaster. Both will perform different duties while working together.
The OPS headmaster will monitor classroom teaching and student attendance. They will also review academic progress and prepare reports for the regular headmaster. Moreover, they will work closely with teachers to improve classroom performance and help students achieve better results.
The regular headmaster will manage the school’s administration. They will supervise teachers, prepare school development plans, and coordinate with education officers. They will also monitor students’ academic and moral development. As a result, the department expects stronger leadership and better school management.

Teacher Rationalization Starts in August

The department has also approved teacher rationalization across primary, middle, and high schools from August. This plan will place teachers where they are needed most. Therefore, schools with staff shortages should receive better support.
Meanwhile, the government has invited applications to outsource another 5,550 schools. Officials believe this step will improve efficiency and educational services.
Rawalpindi Executive Education Officer Yasin Baloch welcomed the decision. He said two headmasters would strengthen school management and improve teachers’ performance. He added that better supervision would create a stronger learning environment and help students perform well. Overall, Punjab school reforms aim to improve education quality through better leadership, balanced staffing, and effective school management.
