Second Batch of Mandelson Papers Released After Sacking
A second batch of papers relating to Lord Mandelson’s time as UK ambassador has been published.
More Documents Published
The release happened on Monday. MPs voted to release the documents in February. The goal was to reveal behind-the-scenes discussions about how he was appointed to the role.
The peer was sacked from the job last year by Sir Keir Starmer. The sacking followed revelations in the United States about the extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was a convicted sex offender who died in custody.
Some Questions Remain
The document release totaled more than 1,500 pages. However, some questions about the appointment remain unanswered. The public and MPs continue to seek clarity on the vetting process.
