Sindh Orders Audit of Public Colleges Over Missing Equipment
The Sindh college audit has begun after reports of missing furniture, computers, and laboratory equipment in government colleges. The Sindh government ordered a province-wide verification of supplies to ensure accountability. Officials will inspect items purchased between the 2021 and 2025 fiscal years and verify whether colleges received them.
Government launches verification drive
The decision came during a meeting chaired by Sindh Secretary for College Education Nadeemur Rehman Memon. During the meeting, officials reviewed records of furniture, computers, and laboratory equipment supplied to public colleges across the province.
Memon directed all government college principals to physically verify the available items. He also instructed them to submit official certificates confirming that the supplied equipment had been received. Furthermore, colleges must send verified records to the department within the prescribed deadline.
The secretary took serious notice of reports about missing items. Therefore, he ordered authorities to issue notices to former drawing and disbursing officers as well as the contractors involved. In addition, he directed officials to begin legal proceedings against anyone found responsible for negligence or misconduct.
Province-wide database to improve planning
The meeting also approved the creation of a comprehensive database for all government colleges in Sindh. The database will include details about infrastructure, available facilities, and institutional requirements.
Officials must complete the data collection within the specified timeframe. As a result, the government expects to improve future planning and allocate resources more effectively.
Authorities believe the new database will help identify gaps in educational facilities across the province. It will also support transparent decision-making and strengthen monitoring of public assets.
The audit reflects the government’s efforts to improve accountability in the education sector. Officials hope the verification process will recover missing items, prevent future irregularities, and ensure that public resources benefit students and educational institutions across Sindh.
